Control first appeared in a special publication produced by Interview for Art Basel Miami in November 2022.<br /> The tight tracking is directly inspired by Interview&#39;s archives, specifically the large-format newsprint issues in the 1970s.<br />

Schwartz first sketched Control in 2017, when he and Berton Hasebe were working on a commission for T, the New York Times Style Magazine. He came back to the project in 2022 for a refresh of Interview magazine, which inspired TNT tracking (based on 1970s headline treatments from the archive) and the Cursive, loosely inspired by the 1982 Letraset face Van Dijk.<br />

Živčić started work on the family in 2017 as part of a design pitch for branding the Dubrovnik and Neretva region in Croatia. Collaborating with Lana Cavar and Narcisa Vukojević, Živčić drew a bold, all-caps typeface honoring the rich cultural and typographic history of the region. Exanding and refining the typeface over the next few years, Živčić was inspired by a wide range of influences to make bold decisions, even when that meant breaking the internal system of the design.<br />
