In slightly less devastating news, word is now officially out about my new typeface Sukoon, as part of @fontwerk’s latest email newsletter.<br /> The publisher agreed to call it Sukoon after all; my favorite name choice. Earlier we used the name Ayla.<br /> Sukoon is Arabic for calm or inner peace, which are the design qualities I wanted to express in this typeface. It’s also a reference to an Arabic typographic symbol, a little vocalization mark that marks the absence of a vowel after a consonant.<br />

@moyogo Do you have examples of uses of <br /> U+0315 COMBINING COMMA ABOVE RIGHT<br /> U+0358 COMBINING DOT ABOVE RIGHT<br /> particularly use with caps? I am trying to figure out what the best default positioning should be in most cases.<br /> [U+0315 is used pretty much interchangably with apostrophe in a lot of Pacific Northwest orthographies, leading me to think it may not actually benefit from combining mark handling.]<br />
